Summertime in Porangahau is a bare foot wander to golden sand beaches where you can surf cast, fly kites, ride blow carts on a windy day or simply soak up some sunshine and it is home to some incredible fishing and diving spots and summer events.
Getting there
The best road to Porangahau is to take Porangahau Road south out of Waipukurau. Turn left in to the small settlement of Porangahau after about 40 km (allow an hour to drive there from Waipukurau). Drive through Porangahau past the store and turn right on to Beach Road. Follow the road round and right over the bridge to Porangahau Beach.
