Painting the French Landscape - 1770 to 2020

30 Te Mata Road, Havelock North

Peter, the current Chair of the History Council of Victoria, has published widely on the history of modern France and his extensive knowledge will take us on a 250-year journey through the French landscape. The talk will explore the paintings of Watteau, Millet, Courbet, Van Gogh, Monet, Soutine, Cognée and others less well known in the 1770-2020 period. We will hear about why and how the artists painted their landscapes.
