The Common Good: Charles Ropitini on Mēri Hōhepa

227 Heretaunga St East, Hastings

The Common Good is back! An evening of theological conversation and contemplation designed to uplift and illuminate, led by St Andrew's Presbyterian Church Reverand, Jill McDonald, open to all.

First up this year we will be interviewing the delightful Charles Ropitini from Pakipaki about 'The footsteps of Mēri Hōhepa Suzanne Aubert through Hawkes Bay'. Suzanne Aubert, known by mana whenua as Mēri Hōhepa, was a French missionary who lived in Hawkes Bay in the 1870’s. Te Reo was her second language after French and she was held in high regard by Māori around the North Island. She was an inspiring woman of faith who lived a fascinating life doing so much for others in Auckland, Hawkes Bay, Whanganui and Wellington.

This will be a great evening to learn something of the history of Heretaunga and the huge impact that a tiny French nun made in our locality. It will be great to consider what we might learn from her.

In these challenging times it feels even more important to come together to have conversations that matter as we seek the common good and lives of flourishing for all.
